Octopus Flux
Flux is a tariff aimed primarily at Octopus customers with battery storage who are able to export power to the grid at peak times (between 16:00 and 19:00). It provides an opportunity for energy arbitrage, offering a period of cheap energy imports from 02:00 to 05:00 where battery storage can be topped up. Those with battery storage and solar generation that are able to export excess energy during the peak time will benefit most from this tariff.
Note that all energy consumed during the cheaper import period is priced at the reduced rate, not just the energy used for topping up battery storage. This makes it an excellent time to run appliances like washing machines, tumble dryers or dishwashers which will also benefit from the cheaper electricity.
See also it's sibling tariff Intelligent Flux, which offers even cheaper import rates for those with smart home batteries.
